In 2003 my family and I moved to Bengkulu because my dad got a job assignment there. At that time I was still occupying the 4th grade and I became a student of SDN 07 Bajak of Bengkulu. Although it is quite difficult to adapt to all the new department, but eventually I was able to adapt as well. Here I was required to learn the language of Bengkulu and eventually I was able to speak Bengkulu.

Three years I spent there, I visited a lot of the beauty of the city of Bengkulu. I visited Long Beach who was then only pay for parking, unlike the beach in Jakarta. The atmosphere was no less beautiful with beaches out there. In the afternoon see the sunset while eating roasted corn, every morning I also often visit to play the sand at the beach.

Fort Marlborough which is not far from the long coast is equally beautiful. Fort Marlborough is a relic of the British fort in the city of Bengkulu. The fort was established by the East India Company (EIC) in 1713-1719 under the leadership of Governor Joseph Callet as a bastion of English. That said, this castle is the strongest fortress in eastern England after the fort St. George in Madras, India. This fort was built on an artificial hill, overlooking the city of Bengkulu and backs to the Indian Ocean. The fort was once burned by the people of Bengkulu; so that the inhabitants fled to Madras. They then returned in 1724 after an agreement was held. 1793, re-launched attack. In this incident a British officer, Robert Hamilton, was killed. And then in 1807, resident Thomas Parr was also killed. Both are commemorated with the establishment of the monuments in the city of Bengkulu by the British government.

Marlborough still serves as a stronghold until the Dutch East Indies in 1825-1942, Japan in 1942-1945, and the Indonesian independence war. Since Japan lost until 1948, the castle was widened Police headquarters. However, in the years 1949-1950, Marlborough fort was occupied again by the Dutch. After the Dutch left in 1950, the fort of Marlborough became the headquarters of the Army. Until 1977, the fort was handed over to the Department of Education for refurbished and used as a heritage building. Many science after visiting the castle.

Then there Houses exile Bung Karno, which according to the history of the Dutch colony era (1939-1942), Sukarno (Which later became the first President) once exiled in Bengkulu. During the exile Soekarno stay at home which is located in Anggut Upper and now known as the Soekarno-Hatta. Some equipment, bicycles, library books, and others who once owned by soekarno stored in this house. During his stay in Bengkulu, Sukarno designing the mosque, which is now known as Mosque Jamik.
